About Jared

Type: Missing Right Arm & Right Leg

Sport: Strength Training

In US Army SFC Jared Bullock served two tours in Iraq before beginning training for the Special Forces. He received a Green Beret was deployed to Afghanistan in 2013. Exactly one month later, while on a routine patrol, Jared’s ATV ran over an improvised explosive device (IED). The blast took the life of his best friend.

Though Jared survived, he was severely injured. When he awoke in Germany, he was told he had lost his right arm above the elbow and his right leg above the knee. He was flown to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX where he underwent 30 surgeries.

One of the things that helped Jared with his recovery, was that his profession demanded a high skill level of physical fitness. As a double amputee, Jared has competed in multiple 5-10 mile races, participated in a fitness competition, and continues to help disabled children adapt in the gym. He and his wife, Jesica, decided to open their own gym called Foundry Athletics in Carterville, IL to help others reach their fitness goals.

Jared is certified as an ISSA Strength and Conditioning Coach and Exos Tactical Training certified and has multiple certifications as a Green Beret. He is currently in the process of completing his NASM Performance Enhancement Specialization certification.
