NubAbility Athletics Coach
“Going into NubAbility, I thought I was going to be the one inspiring campers, but it was the campers who inspired ME! Each summer, I look forward to NubCamp and the relationships that are made with the campers, their families and other coaches.”
Limb Difference: Traumatic
Type: Missing Right Hand
Going into her senior year of high school in Southwest Michigan, Carley was diagnosed with a rare medical condition that landed her in the hospital for three and a half weeks. Carley underwent 15 surgeries, which eventually resulted in the amputation of her dominant right hand.
The amputation was not the end rather it was just the beginning. With her faith and determination Carley was back on the basketball court three short months after the loss of her hand. Carley’s favorite memory of NubCamp was when she taught her basketball camper, Ella, how to put her hair in a ponytail one handed.
Sports + Highlights:
● Three Rivers High School (MI): Forward (4yrs), All Conference (3yrs)
● Detroit Lion’s fan… she says: “I know, I know. Laugh all you want, one day they will be good!”
● Carley is a public speaker who travels the country sharing her story. [CarleyCottingham.net]
● She also is an Executive Assistant for the Friends of Bethany Hamilton Organization. If you are a Soul Surfer or Bethany Hamilton fan, Carley has the connections!

WHY WE ARE DIFFERENT
The NubAbility® Athletics Foundation can match any of our Campers to a Coach with the same limb difference as them. Our goal is to get our kids out of the stands, off the bench and into the game so they can excel confidently in sports and in life. #DontNeed2
Our certified, limb different instructors are able to offer customized, adaptive techniques for each sport that can our campers can continued to use long after camp is over.
NubAbility® Athletics truly appreciates individuals who pay it forward to others by helping raise funds though fundraisers, donations or new sponsor connections to help us cover camp costs.
