Track & FieldWhat NubAbility Means to Dietz
Camp NubAbility means more to me than just a summer camp – it’s family, purpose, and perspective all rolled into one. Every year I get the chance to step into an environment where kids who are limb-different aren’t defined by what’s “missing,” but by the incredible strength, resilience, and joy they bring to the field. Coaching track and field there isn’t just about teaching running form or technique; it’s about showing these kids that nothing is off-limits, that they’re capable of pushing past barriers—both real and imagined.
On a personal level, Camp NubAbility re-centers me. It reminds me of what truly matters: community, encouragement, and using our own gifts to lift others up. I leave camp each summer exhausted in the best way possible, with a full heart and a renewed sense of gratitude. Watching a kid believe in themselves, sometimes for the very first time, is a kind of reward that no paycheck, no trophy, no “win” in life can match.
For me, Camp NubAbility isn’t just something I do – it’s part of who I am.
